Texas Holdem
Start with low limit games and work your way up the ladder as your skill improves. In Texas Holdem, the dealer gives each player two cards. Five community cards are then laid face up. The goal is to make the best five card hand you can using any combo of the seven cards. There are four rounds of betting. To stay in the game, you have to bet or raise according to the rounds limits. In No Limit Texas Holdem, any player can bet all of their chips at any time.
Seven Card Stud
Up to seven players can play Seven Card Stud. There are five betting rounds. Before beginning, each player has to put money into the ante, depending on the game limit. To start, each player gets two cards facing down, or hole cards, and one card facing up, the door card. The person with the lowest door card must make a bet. The next player can either call, raise or fold. Then each player gets another card face up and the betting continues. After each round, up until the seventh round, the players are dealt one card each. During the seventh round, the players get their last card face down. After betting, the players show all their cards and the best five card hand wins.
Video Poker
Video poker combines the luck of slot machines with the skill needed for card games. Since every machine has its own unique strategy, dedicate your time to one machine to learn how it works. For example, some machines pay back more than others, especially if your poker strategy is spot on.
